We have many organizations in the Charlotte County area who have a direct impact on our neighborhood. Each organization has a short description, meeting locations, and a link that will take you to meeting dates, minutes of previous meetings and contact information. 
 
MSBU Waterways
 
The purpose of this unit is to provide for (1) periodic dredging, 
(2) any repair, expansion or replacement of the waterways, canals, locks or accessory facilities,  
(3) operation of the lock, and
(4) the removal of cattails from the Interceptor Lagoon waterway.

MSBU Street and Drainage​
 
The purpose of the unit is to provide for the construction, reconstruction, repair, paving, repaving, hard-surfacing, re-hard surfacing, widening, guttering and draining of the platted streets in the unit, including the necessary appurtenances thereto, including beautification and landscaping projects, from funds derived from special assessments within the unit only.

West Charlotte Stormwater MSBU
 
The purpose of the unit is to provide for the financing, design, construction, maintenance and operation of a stormwater management system, plan for future infrastructure needs for drainage, accrue or borrow funds for future work, and carry out such work for all primary drainage infrastructure as determined by the county engineer. The purpose shall include the financing of the county's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System's (NPDES) permit and its requirements, as well as any costs associated with the total maximum daily loads (TMDLs) program. The purpose shall also include water quality monitoring and native and invasive aquatic plant control with the use of chemical, biological and mechanical methods.

Metropolitan Planning Organization
 
The Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC) is comprised of three representatives from each of the county’s geographic areas – South, Mid, and West – and two At-Large Representatives. The CAC provides public input on proposed MPO transportation plans and programs.

Charlotte County Commissioners
The Board of County Commissioners is the heart of our county's government. Think of them as the decision-makers who set policies, enact ordinances, and adopt resolutions. They are in charge of creating the budget and deciding how funds are distributed to various county departments and divisions.

What They Do:
Make laws and policies.
Approve the county's budget.
Appoint key officials like the County Administrator and County Attorney.

FPL Charlotte Co Utilities Public Works Waste Management
Provides safe, reliable drinking water, reclaimed water and wastewater service for the enrichment of the community.
 
Maintains roads, signals, signs,drainage, waterway signs, brush and plants on right of ways.
